CONNIE & JORDAN'S WEDDING AT THE HACKNEY

Connie and Jordan wedding celebration at The Hackney East London venue

Connie & Jordan's December wedding at The Hackney was full of character, warmth, and a beautifully relaxed sense of celebration. Every detail reflected the couple's personalities: vibrant florals in sunset tones, live music that built atmosphere throughout the day, and an evening that grew organically from intimate dinner to full-energy party.

The celebration unfolded with ease. Nothing felt rushed or overly structured, allowing the energy of the room to guide the pace from ceremony through to a lively evening that never lost momentum.

THE CEREMONY

Connie and Jordan ceremony at Hackney Town Hall

Connie & Jordan were married at Hackney Town Hall, the Art Deco landmark that's become a favourite among East London couples. The midday ceremony felt calm, personal, and grounded in the people closest to them.

The registry ceremony was quietly emotive. Surrounded by friends and family, vows were exchanged with sincerity and warmth. The moment felt unforced, setting a confident and relaxed tone for the rest of the day.

ARRIVING AT THE HACKNEY

After the ceremony, guests made their way across East London to The Hackney. The couple requested an early arrival, joining guests just after 2pm for drinks before the formal reception began.

As guests arrived, the atmosphere lifted instantly. Prosecco was poured, music filled the space, and the venue quickly became a place of conversation, laughter, and connection. The 1860s brewery setting, with its exposed brick and hanging greenery, provided a backdrop that needed no embellishment.

THE WEDDING BREAKFAST

Three course wedding breakfast at Connie and Jordan's Hackney celebration

At 2:30pm, guests were seated for a three-course meal delivered by the in-house kitchen. Long tables dressed with sage chiffon and chalk runners created a setting that encouraged conversation throughout the space.

The meal opened with a choice of Charred Broccoli Di Cicco with Burrata, Pine Nuts and Lemon, or Seasonal Velouté with Sautéed Wild Mushrooms and Sage. Both starters brought depth and warmth, setting the tone for what followed.

Mains showcased thoughtful vegetarian cooking: Sweet Potato Fritters with Charred Scallions, Red Pepper and Pine Nut Sauce, or King Trumpet Mushroom à la Bordelaise with Parsnip Purée, Seaweed Crumb and Puntarelle. Each dish balanced richness with texture, demonstrating how plant-based menus can satisfy without compromise.

Dessert arrived as Traditional Chocolate Mousse with Macadamia Brittle and Poached Blackberries. The contrast of smooth mousse, crunchy brittle, and tart berries provided a satisfying conclusion to the meal.

Zibibbo 'Vitese' from Sicily flowed throughout, its aromatic character complementing the Mediterranean-inspired menu. Those preferring red enjoyed Pinot Noir 'Ad Hoc Cruel Mistress' from Australia, its elegance matching the meal's sophistication.

STYLE NOTES

Vibrant wedding styling with sage and coal linens at The Hackney

The styling throughout the day was expressive and confident. Connie created her own floral arrangements, bringing vibrant orange, sunflower yellow, and bold pink-purple blooms that caught the light beautifully. The colour palette felt joyful without overwhelming the space.

Sage chiffon runners layered over chalk runners provided textural depth, while coal napkins grounded the look with sophistication. Disco balls hung from panels, catching candlelight and adding playful energy to the room. Every choice felt intentional, enhancing the mood while keeping focus on the people.

A cheese platter replaced traditional wedding cake, offering guests something substantial and shareable as the evening progressed.

THE EVENING CELEBRATION

At 5pm, evening guests arrived to find the space transformed for celebration. The unlimited drinks package kicked in for the hour, with Negronis, Espresso Martinis, Dark 'n Stormys, and Margaritas flowing freely from the bar.

A live band opened with a 45-minute set, building atmosphere as more people arrived. At 6pm, speeches began: the Maid of Honour, Connie's father, the Best Man, and finally Jordan. Each brought laughter, emotion, and genuine warmth. The room stayed fully engaged throughout.

Following cake cutting at 6:30pm, the band returned for a second 30-minute set, maintaining momentum as anticipation built. At 7pm, Connie & Jordan's first dance opened the floor, and the celebration shifted into full swing.

MUSIC & ATMOSPHERE

Live music played a crucial role in shaping the day's energy. The band's two sets provided moments that lifted the room, while carefully curated playlists filled the gaps. The transition from acoustic warmth during dinner to high-energy celebration felt seamless.

At 8pm, Triple Cheese and Truffle Toasties and Vegan Tacos appeared. Giant Jenga, hoopla, and beer pong provided alternative entertainment. The dancefloor never emptied, carrying energy right through to last call.
