FIONA & JAMES'S WEDDING AT THE HACKNEY
There's something special about late autumn at The Hackney, when golden hour spills through 19th-century windows and the entire venue hums with anticipation. For Fiona & James, their November wedding was a celebration rooted in joy, design, and deep connection.
With a standing reception that encouraged movement and conversation, this was a day where every detail reflected their love story and their desire to bring everyone together in one beautifully styled space.

THE CEREMONY
Fiona & James began their day with a heartfelt legal ceremony at Town Hall Hotel & Apartments, a grand and characterful setting just minutes from The Hackney.
The ceremony set the tone for everything that followed: intimate, meaningful, and surrounded by the people who mattered most.
ARRIVING AT THE HACKNEY
Guests arrived at 3pm to find prosecco waiting, with staff offering top-ups as everyone settled into the space. The venue hummed with that particular anticipation that builds when everyone gathers in the same place, at the same time.
Half an hour later, Fiona and James made their entrance to cheers and applause, ready to begin the celebration properly.

SPEECHES & CAKE
With everyone gathered and glasses raised, speeches began immediately. The groom spoke first, followed by the best man, then the father of the bride. Laughter and heartfelt emotion filled the room in equal measure.
The cake was cut straight after the toasts, later served as dessert alongside the bowl food. A simple gesture that fit perfectly within the day's relaxed rhythm.
THE WEDDING BREAKFAST
Rather than a traditional seated dinner, Fiona & James chose bowl food served standing, allowing guests to move freely, connect effortlessly, and soak up the vibrant energy of the space.
The in-house kitchen delivered generous bowls that balanced comfort with refinement. Braised Rib of Beef arrived with silky Pomme Mousseline, Watercress Salsa Verde, and a seaweed crumb that added unexpected depth. Crispy Pork Belly came with White Bean Cassoulet, Crispy Kale, and Puffed Pork Skin. For vegetarian guests, Salt Baked Celeriac with Mushroom Ketchup and Root Vegetable Pithivier with Jerk Carrot Purée offered equally satisfying options.
Doppio Passo Primitivo flowed for red wine drinkers, while Casa De Vila Nova Vinho Verde offered crispness for those preferring white. The bar tab kept drinks flowing freely throughout.

STYLE NOTES
The styling stayed beautifully restrained throughout. Dark grey table runners provided a sophisticated foundation, while gold candle holders cast flickering warmth across the space. A green wreath installation hung against the half-panel backdrop, and soft florals dressed the fireplaces and welcome sign.
From Fiona's minimalist gown to James's tailored look, every detail reflected confident, understated elegance. Without over-layering or excess decoration, the aesthetic felt effortless and modern, thoughtful, unfussy, and entirely their own.
THE EVENING CELEBRATION
At 6:30pm, Fiona & James shared their first dance under the ambient glow of The Hackney's lighting. The DJ brought energy that matched the mood perfectly, keeping the dancefloor full as the evening built momentum.
At 8:45pm, evening food appeared at exactly the right moment: Sliders with aged beef patties, cheddar, and all the trimmings, alongside Nachos loaded with Pico de Gallo and Guacamole. The kind of late-night fuel that kept guests dancing until last calls at 10:50pm.
