Connie and Jordan’s December wedding was full of character, warmth, and a beautifully relaxed sense of celebration. Every detail reflected the couple: vibrant florals in sunset tones, live music that built atmosphere through the day, and an evening that grew organically from intimate dinner to full-energy party.
The ceremony
Connie and Jordan were married at Hackney Town Hall, the Art Deco landmark that has become a favourite among East London couples. The midday ceremony felt calm, personal, and grounded in the people closest to them. Vows were exchanged with sincerity and warmth. Unforced, setting a confident tone for the rest of the day.
Arrival at The Hackney
Guests made their way across East London to Hackney Road. The couple arrived just after 2pm for drinks before the formal reception. Prosecco poured, music played, and the venue quickly filled with conversation and laughter. The 1856 brewery setting - exposed brick, hanging greenery - needed no embellishment.
The wedding breakfast
At 2:30pm, guests sat down to a three-course meal from the in-house kitchen. Long tables dressed with sage chiffon and chalk runners created a setting that encouraged conversation across the whole room.
The meal opened with charred broccoli di cicco with burrata, pine nuts and lemon, or seasonal velouté with sautéed wild mushrooms and sage. Mains showcased confident vegetarian cooking: sweet potato fritters with charred scallions, red pepper and pine nut sauce, or king trumpet mushroom a la Bordelaise with parsnip purée, seaweed crumb and puntarelle. Traditional chocolate mousse with macadamia brittle and poached blackberries closed the meal.
Zibibbo ‘Vitese’ from Sicily flowed throughout, its aromatic character complementing the Mediterranean-inspired menu. Pinot Noir ‘Ad Hoc Cruel Mistress’ from Australia for those preferring red.
Style notes
The styling was expressive and confident. Connie created her own floral arrangements, bringing vibrant orange, sunflower yellow, and bold pink-purple blooms. Sage chiffon runners layered over chalk runners provided textural depth, while coal napkins grounded the look. Disco balls hung from the panels, catching candlelight and adding playful energy. A cheese platter replaced a traditional wedding cake - something substantial and shareable as the evening progressed.
The evening
At 5pm, evening guests arrived to a transformed space. The unlimited drinks package kicked in for the hour, with Negronis, Espresso Martinis, Dark ‘n Stormys, and Margaritas flowing from the bar. A live band opened with a 45-minute set, building atmosphere as the crowd built.
At 6pm, speeches: maid of honour, Connie’s father, best man, then Jordan. Each brought laughter, emotion, and genuine warmth. After cake-cutting at 6:30pm, the band returned for a second 30-minute set. At 7pm, Connie and Jordan’s first dance opened the floor. The celebration shifted into full swing.
At 8pm, triple cheese and truffle toasties and vegan tacos appeared. Giant Jenga, hoopla, and beer pong outside for anyone wanting a break from the dancefloor. The floor itself never emptied, carrying its energy through to last call.
