If you are coming to The Hackney for a wedding or an event, the good news is that East London does hotels well. Shoreditch and Bethnal Green are minutes away, and between them they cover everything from design-led boutiques to practical, well-priced rooms.
These are the places we recommend to couples and their guests, ordered roughly by how close they are to our door at 503 Hackney Road.
Mama Shelter Shoreditch
The closest option by far - it sits at 419-437 Hackney Road, on the same street as the venue, around a three-minute walk away. The rooms are playful and compact, the ground floor has a lively restaurant and bar, and your guests can roll out of bed and arrive at the celebration in the time it takes to finish a coffee. For wedding parties wanting everyone close, this is the obvious first call.
Town Hall Hotel, Bethnal Green
A short hop south on Patriot Square, set in the former Edwardian town hall of Bethnal Green - all marble staircases, period detail and quietly grand apartments alongside the rooms. It is the most characterful stay in the area and a favourite with guests who want something special to bookend the day. The walk to The Hackney takes around fifteen minutes, or a few minutes by cab.

Hart Shoreditch, Curio Collection by Hilton
On the Shoreditch side, Hart pairs polished, full-service comfort with nods to the area’s craft heritage. Rooms are elegant and the service is consistently good - a strong choice for family members who want everything taken care of, and for corporate guests attending an event with us. Around ten minutes from the venue by taxi.
One Hundred Shoreditch
On Shoreditch High Street, with rooftop and basement bars, several restaurants, and bright, calm rooms above the noise. It suits groups who want the hotel itself to be part of the weekend - somewhere to gather before the event and somewhere to debrief after. Around ten minutes by cab to The Hackney.
The Hoxton, Shoreditch
The original Shoreditch boutique hotel and still one of the best. Chic rooms, a buzzing lobby that works for casual meetings, and the whole of Shoreditch’s restaurant and bar scene outside the front door. Roughly ten minutes by cab, or a half-hour walk through some of East London’s most interesting streets.
YOTEL London Shoreditch
The practical pick. Compact, smartly designed rooms at sharper prices, a few minutes from the venue by taxi. Ideal for younger guests or bigger groups where not everyone wants boutique pricing - they will spend their money at the bar instead, which we respect.

Booking advice for wedding parties
Book early. East London hotels fill quickly in summer and around Christmas, and the closest options go first.
Most hotels will hold a block of rooms for a wedding party if you ask - do it before the save-the-dates go out, so guests can book in one place at an agreed rate. It also concentrates the morning-after breakfast in one spot, which the photographs always show was the right call.
It is worth telling guests how short these journeys are, too. Nobody needs to leave the party early for a long trek across London - the furthest stay on this list is about ten minutes away by cab, and our getting here guide covers every route back, including the night buses along Hackney Road.
Make a weekend of it
Most guests who stay over make a weekend of the trip, and the neighbourhood rewards it - markets, parks, galleries and some of the best food in London, all within walking distance. Our guide to things to do near The Hackney has a full day mapped out, and the cafe-bar is open through the day for a recovery brunch.
